200-Ton Air Cooled Chiller

A 200-ton air cooled chiller is a significant piece of cooling equipment with a wide range of applications and unique characteristics.

Working Principle
In an air cooled chiller, the refrigerant plays a crucial role. It enters the evaporator in a liquid state and absorbs heat from the process water, changing into a gaseous state. Then, the gaseous refrigerant is drawn into the compressor, where its pressure and temperature are increased. Next, the high-pressure, high-temperature gaseous refrigerant moves to the condenser. In the condenser, the heat is dissipated to the surrounding air through the action of circulating fans, and the refrigerant condenses back into a liquid state. This liquid refrigerant then returns to the evaporator to start the cycle again.

Applications
Commercial Buildings: It is widely used in large shopping malls, office buildings, and hotels to provide central air conditioning. For example, in a large shopping mall, a 200-ton air cooled chiller can effectively cool the entire building, creating a comfortable shopping environment for customers.
Industrial Processes: In manufacturing plants, it is used for cooling equipment and controlling process temperatures. For instance, in the plastic production industry, it helps to cool the molds and control the temperature of the production process, ensuring the quality of the products.

Data Centers: With the continuous development of the digital economy, data centers require a large amount of cooling. A 200-ton air cooled chiller can maintain the appropriate temperature in the data center to ensure the normal operation of servers and other equipment.

Advantages
Easy Installation: Compared with water cooled chillers, air cooled chillers have fewer components and do not require the installation of complex cooling towers and water piping systems, which greatly simplifies the installation process.
Small Footprint: They are self-contained units and typically take up less space, making them suitable for locations where space is limited.
Low Maintenance Costs: With fewer components, there are fewer parts that need maintenance, reducing the frequency of maintenance and related costs.
No Water Required: Air cooled chillers use air as the cooling medium and do not rely on a large amount of water, making them ideal for areas where water resources are scarce or expensive.

Technical Specifications

Capacity: Usually, a 200-ton air cooled chiller has a cooling capacity of around 200 tons, but in some cases, it may be slightly higher or lower, such as 207 tons.
Fluid Temperature Range: The chilled water output can typically range from 0 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Some models have a minimum leaving fluid temperature of 5 degrees Fahrenheit and a maximum of 65 degrees Fahrenheit.
Flow Rate: The flow capacity generally ranges from 200 to 800 gallons per minute.
Electrical Data: It usually operates at 460V, 3-phase, 60Hz. The full load ampere may be around 360 to 428 amps.

Efficiency Optimization
Use of Variable Frequency Drives: Installing variable frequency drives (VFDs) can adjust the speed of the compressor and fans according to the actual load, reducing energy consumption when the load is low.
Regular Maintenance: Keeping the condenser coils and air filters clean, and ensuring the correct refrigerant charge level can maintain the chiller’s efficiency.
Optimal System Design: In the process of system design, factors such as reasonable chiller sequencing and heat load distribution should be considered to improve the overall efficiency of the system.
